Stuart M. Sloan is the founder of Sloan Capital Companies, a Seattle-based private investment company, and was formerly Chairman and CEO of Quality Food Centers, a supermarket chain. QFC went public in 1997, was sold to Fred Meyer in 1997 and Kroger acquired Fred Meyer and QFC in 1998. Since then Stuart has been a philanthropist with a focus on reforming inner city elementary schools. One of his major beneficiary projects is Seattle’s T. T. Minor public school. Sloan serves on the board of J. Crew, Pendrell, and Anixter International. He previously served on the Boards of Directors of Rite Aid and Clearwire.
